Happy 4th Birthday Rocko! *

Today was Rocko’s birthday, but he also shares the celebration with one of my little cousins. We are celebrating his fourth year of life here at our home, being born in our shed along with his six other siblings. Rocko has been with us ever since he was born, and he has turned out to be such a sweet little companion.

I just wanted to post this for my fluffy, little fella; Happy Birthday!

March of 2012 *

Yes, one of my most favorite months of the year has begun! March is my #1 favorite month because one, my birthday is at the end of the month. Second, Rocko’s birthday is also this month. Spring starts this month too, which gets me excited for all the sunny weather that lies ahead of us. There is so much anticipation for the warm seasons of spring and summer, but it will also be the end of my favorite season of winter. There won’t be any snow, but there will be the possibility of gardening, swimming, biking and going outside without having to put 4 layers of clothes on. That would be nice for once. Winter in Atlantic Canada is a bit harsh, but our spring and summer are always enjoyable.

The first big event that will be happening this month is Rocko’s birthday, which is at the end of this week. He will be turning 28 in doggy years, but only 4 in our normal years. Rocko has been growing up so quickly, he is already bigger than Rocky. Rocky does have a smaller build than Rocko, but still, he is getting pretty thick. It might just be his winter coat though, who knows?

Wild Flowers in Our Yard

Gardening this year will also be something to look forward to, because we will be bringing our garden back to life after 2 years of no use. Hopefully the soil will be fertile enough to use by now. The last harvest we had was really worth all the work, so I can’t wait to see what we manage to grow this time around. It isn’t just vegetables and  fruits that I want to grow this year though, I also want to start growing little flower gardens around our house and do some yard work to spiff it up a bit. The house needs a little TLC, so I want to work on the exterior of it during my free time. I will probably start with cleaning the perimeter of the house first, and getting rid of any weeds or other unwanted things around that area. Next I will probably want to repaint our steps, as the paint has worn off them after years of use. Maybe within the next few months I will get started on this and post some pictures to show you my work.
